To help prevent color bleeding in cotton, manta, or hand-dyed artisanal garments, soak the piece before first use in cold water with 1 cup white vinegar and 1–2 tablespoons of salt for 30–60 minutes. Rinse until the water runs clearer.
Avoid mixing with other garments initially, as artisanal fabrics often use natural dyes that may release some color during early washes.
