Agua de Jamaica Recipe

A Copal classic, perfect for Cinco de Mayo! This ruby-red iced tea is tart, refreshing, and full of wellness benefits. Try it with a few secret ingredients to elevate your Jamaica.. mint and cinnamon… makes it so delightful!


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus petals

  • 8 cups water

  • ½–¾ cup sweetener (sugar, agave, or honey)

  • Optional: cinnamon and 1 mint tea bag

  • Ice for serving


Instructions:

  1. Boil 4 cups of water. Remove from heat, add hibiscus, cinnamon, and mint tea bag.

  2. Steep 15–20 minutes. Strain.

  3. Stir in sweetener, then add 4 cups of cold water.

  4. Chill, serve over ice, and garnish with lime.



Hibiscus Mezcal Margarita

Feeling festive? Turn your Agua de Jamaica into a cocktail with a smoky twist:


Ingredients:

  • 2 oz mezcal

  • 2 oz chilled Agua de Jamaica

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice

  • ½ oz agave syrup


Instructions:

Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a salt-rimmed glass and garnish with a lime wheel or hibiscus flower.
